Today's Trends We Love!
“We are inspired by trends, not defined by trends. ”
When we were chatting about our favorite trends that have held strong into 2020, we had a tough time picking our favorites. So many styles we are seeing this year are paying homage to past decades, which we love. We will share a few of our faves today and tell us which you would like us to film a tutorial on!
Ponytails
…And before you think you understand The Ponytail, take a look at these modern takes on this classic style. One trend you will see over and over this year, is the “Bubble Ponytail.” Also, you will see shorter bob cuts this year, but you can still rock a Ponytail and the modernized “Half Pony.” Check out some of my favorite takes on this timeless style…
“I can’t live without knowing I have my extensions and ponytail. So I can run out the door at the drop of a hat.”
“Whenever I really get serious about something, I pull my hair back into a tight ponytail. If you see me with that, you know I mean business.”
“Yeah, I love ponytails. I’m a wash-and-go girl. But, oh yeah, I like to whip it.”
From braided, to sleek to that “Bubble Pony,” this style can be paired with jeans, a cocktail dress or even red carpet events.
This half-up pony style is everywhere! It is the perfect style for short hair or long locks. Love that this is flexible with straight to curly hair.
Next up…The accessory craze is here! It’s all about the pearls!
“Pearls are always appropriate.”
“A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.”
In 2019, the “most instagrammed” hair accessory was a pearl hair clip donning the iconic name, Chanel. While a Chanel pearl hair accessory would cost you anywhere from $375-$1,200…I am loving how this trend has taken off and now you can find your own unique piece thanks to affordable dupes.
Pearl Hair Clips
While the custom Karl Lagerfeld Chanel clip would boast a price tag of almost $1,000…This pearl barrette is easy to find and simple to wear!
Soft stained lips
This is such a welcomed look after seeing so much harsh long wear lipsticks that are so aggressive and uncomfortable to wear.
Tip: you can still wear a lip liner with this look. Just do it subtle and soft. No harsh noticeable lines. Pat on regular lipstick or gloss with your finger. No special products necessary.
“I believe that all women are pretty without makeup- but with the right makeup can be pretty powerful.”
“If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack.”
“Joy is the best makeup. But a little lipstick is a close runner-up.”
Colorful Liner & White Liner
A pop of color (including white) with your liner can be very wearable and flattering. My tip: pair it with a neutral shadow and base liner of dark brown, dark gray, or black. Have fun with color. Match it to an accessory your wearing with your outfit.
“I’m Southern. I like big hair and eyeliner. I want my wedding day to be me, so I’ll probably be rocking some big hair and some eyeliner.”
“Until I was a teenager, I used red pokeberries for lipstick and a burnt matchstick for eyeliner. I used honeysuckle for perfume.”
“Creativity is your best makeup skill, don’t be afraid to experiment.”
How to get the lip look…
Lip Oils
We love that you can easily achieve the soft stained lip trend with products that won’t break the bank! These are two of our favorite go-to options. L’OREAL Tinted Lip Oil can be found at Ulta or even Target. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil is a great option that feels like a splurge but is less than $30!
“We hope you have enjoyed a trip through the most famous and memorable trends that we love! Here is to fashion, beauty and making popular trends unique to YOU! Remember, you can be inspired by trends, but at the end of the day, YOU are free to create your own mark on the world…Make it a fun one!! ”
